Do you ever come across a piece of music that grabs you so deeply that you never tire of playing it?
Over the past year, I’ve experienced this with one particular piece that I would like to share with you today.
Initially, I purchased it for myself as a fresh addition to my church repertoire stash. Even if I don’t have immediate intentions of using a digital download for students, I almost always purchase a studio copy just to be safe.
I’m so glad I did with this one especially because I loved it so much I’ve been handing it out like candy to every student that was willing/interested!
Like me, they have been completely taken with the arrangement of It is Well, arranged by Leila Viss.
Hear a performance by the arranger herself.
So far I think I have given it to five students. Two of those students who are currently working on it with me in their lessons agreed to share a few thoughts on why they love this arrangement (all of which I couldn’t agree more).
She has given such a fresh take on an old hymn that was already beautiful in its own original state, that it makes it even more captivating.
Free Download
I think this is the first post I’ve ever written that focused on just one piece but I couldn’t keep it to myself!
If you would love to have this piece for you and your students as well, Leila has graciously set up a special discount /offer!
If you purchase a Studio License of It is Well ($9.88), she has bundled it together to include a free download of her latest arrangement of the Doxology.
I’ve had a peek at the free arrangement and I wasn’t surprised to find it was also a really fresh take on the original. Your congregation will appreciate the way she includes unique chords while managing to also not stray too far from the original.
This offer doesn’t last though!
You much purchase using this link before October 15, 2019, in order to get your free download.
Additional Discount
Not only that, but Leila has also set up a special discount code for you to get 10% off all purchases on her site.

There are three pieces in the series which you can purchase as either individual licenses or as a package.
While they’re all pretty cool, my favorite (and the one that I think will be a hit with some of my younger students) is “A Favorite Place”.
I love how she’s taking inspiration from the chord progressions and grove of pop pieces and turned it into pieces that students at the elementary and/or intermediate levels can enjoy.

I love Solemnity. I played for my mother’s funeral a year ago. I used Solemnity, Now Thank We All Our God, and Praise to the Lord at different points in the service. Leila understands how to make hymns exciting, approachable, and meaningful.
Yes, she does! I’m so thankful for arrangers like her who can find ways to make old staples fresh, exciting, and (as you stated) approachable, and meaningful.
Thank you for this resource! I bought it and absolutely love it– and have played parts for students and they find it so inspiring. Much appreciated!
Oh, I’m so glad! I know does great arrangements but this one topped it off for me. It moves me EVERY time!
