Friday Finds #89: Easter Week

1 – Easter-Themed Teaching Aids

Susan Paradis has several Easter-themed worksheets and games on her website. One of my favorites is the Bunny Basics note-naming worksheet.

2 – Tax Tips

My husband and I just wrapped-up and submitted our 2017 taxes. We were later than we like to be (something called building a house yourself might be the cause of that :-). To glean a few extra tips, check out Ed Pearlman’s article on Music Teachers Helper Blog Tax Tips for Musicians.

3 – Holy Week

4 – Avoid Buyer’s Remorse

I met a teacher at the MTNA Conference who introduced me to her website Piano iPad Apps. This is a great resource site as she has a lot of videos that walk you through apps. Seeing these videos can help you make a decision whether or not certain apps might be for you, especially if they’re ones you have to purchase.

5 – Speaking Truth

6 – Reading for Pleasure

This year, in the spirit of reading more, I realized the best way for me to do so was to stop reading only business, teaching, and self-help books. I’m re-discovering my love of fiction and identify with this post on Why YA Literature Appeals to More Than Just Young Adults.

7 – Writing Tips

It’s that time of year where many teachers are asked to write recommendation letters for students. Here are some tips to help you out.

8 – Proposals Due

The deadline to submit proposals for the 2019 MTNA Conference in Spokane, Washington is coming up April 13. For tips on writing a proposal as well as delivering a presentation, check out this post on Piano Pantry.

9 – For a Laugh

Kentucky-based teacher Daniel Light has been posting on Facebook #ThingsPianoStudentsSay. Check out the hashtag on Facebook, or his website of the same name. What a fun creative project! The one that made me laugh the loudest?

“What’s different?” I asked, demonstrating a drop-lift motion.

“Your hand looks old and wrinkly?” –5th grader
