Friday Finds #274

Earlier this year, I splurged on something I’ve wanted to do for a long time: get a color consult. My wardrobe has been in need of attention for a few years now, and I wanted to approach it with a better process.

I hope to blog about this in more detail someday, but until then, if you’re interested, use THIS link or the discount code AMYCHAPLIN to get $20 OFF all products from Created Colorful, including consults, gifts, and the Love Your Closet Audio Course! (I am an affiliate, but purchasing through my link doesn’t cost you any extra.)

A new reporting requirement from the US Treasury Department went into effect in January. Andrea Miller’s podcast episode #139 on the Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Reporting Requirement was a great source of clarity on the subject.

One of my teacher friends recently shared some interesting info and resources she discovered on women composers at the MTNA conference:

Reading is a life pleasure I work hard to ensure there’s time for. My pretty table lamp wasn’t cutting it anymore, so I decided it was time to consider functionality over aesthetics. This Kozis Cordless Rechargeable Lamp has been great. I only need to charge it 3-4 times a month, and moving from one reading chair to another in the living room is easy.

In Friday Finds #273, I shared about Susan Paradis’s passing. Her daughter, Liz, is taking over the website and wrote an introductory post: Introducing Liz.

7

Recital Programming Considerations (as in, how to decide in what order students should perform!) (Episode 119 The Piano Pantry Podcast).

8

I used this simple recital challenge from Piano with Lauren this year and had at least half my students complete it. I went big and gave an award of $5 cash for completing it and a candy bar for doing the bonus repetitions. Since I no longer do regular incentives, to me, this was money well spent.

Ten Tips for Perfect Recital Videos (Christopher Goldston)

The last month of the school term means our kiddos might be a bit tapped out. This Music Brain Breaks Bundle could be a fun way to shake things up during your next lesson! (Jennifer Foxx | Music Educator Resources)

If You Do This, Your Emails Might Be Rude (Adam Grant).

In the last Friday Finds, I shared about an online service you can use to organize meals for people. A reader reached out and shared that they use MealTrain.com – another similar site!
