"This resource was phenomenal for my teen student who needed to improve their non-reading aural skills. She had a strong grasp of tonic, dominant, and sub dominant chords already but this excellent resource gave her the structure she needed to exercise those skills within familiar tunes. Excellent for students using traditional piano methods as well as Music Learning Theory (MLT) piano students. Highly recommended and worth every penny. Please make more!"

I've already used Christmas By Ear twice in the first week! It's so visually attractive! I had a kid working on B-flat major technical skills for the first time, and we used "The First Noel" with the Chord Chart Builder page with roman numerals to practice doing something in B-flat. (She plays by ear quite easily so she was already comfortable with that aspect!).

Q: Is this a method for learning chords from scratch?
A: No. This resource assumes basic familiarity with chord symbols. However, it remains fully accessible to those still developing chord skills—players can still follow the melody and use simple chord-root harmony as a natural entry point.

Q: What keys are the songs in?
A: Each tune is placed in a comfortable, accessible key—C, F, G, Am, Dm, or Em. Two tunes (Deck the Halls and The First Noël) are set in D Major because they lend themselves well to that key.

Q: How many songs are included?
A: 15 pieces, including excerpts from Hallelujah Chorus and Ukrainian Bell Carol.

Q: Are there tips for ho2 to teach playing by ear?
A: Yes! There are three pages of teaching tips that walk you through how to utilize the guided listening page with the student.

Q: What levels is this best for?

A: You can use this book for students of all levels – beginner through late intermediate really / early advanced. It encourages creative exploration within a variety of difficulty levels.

Q: Does this come as a printed book?
A: Not yet. This is a digital-only studio-licensed PDF. (Single-teacher studio)
