5-Days of Giveaways | 02: Move It! [DVD]

It’s day two of the one-year anniversary celebration of Piano Pantry. As a thank you to everyone for giving me a chance in the crowded blog world, I’m hosting 5-days of giveaways.

Thank you to everyone who entered yesterday’s giveaway sponsored by Marilyn Lowe. The winner of Day 1: Music Moves for Piano Keyboard Games Book A was Karen Lien!

I’m only giving away items that I currently use and love. After today, there will be one more prize worth $20 (a “foodie” giveaway) and two BIG prizes worth four times that much!

Today’s giveaway is sponsored by me! If you want to know a little more about me, the life I life, and what makes me tick, you can read more here. If not, that’s OK too – read on! 🙂

Day 2 | John Feierabend’s “Move It!” DVD

Today’s item is such a winner in my book that it made two of my Friday Finds this past year here and here.

In yesterday’s giveaway, I shared a little about my search for materials/methods to use with preschool students. During that period of trial and research, I became acquainted with John Feierabend’s First Steps in Music Program as well as his wealth of supplemental educational tools. This DVD has been invaluable in not only my preschool private lessons but group classes for all elementary-age students. The kids love the songs and movement activities.

To read more about how I use them, check out the Friday Finds posts I linked above.

This 24-hour giveaway starts at 12:00 a.m. EST on 3/9/2017 and ends at 12:00 a.m. EST on 3/10/2017.

Good luck and don’t forget to check back tomorrow for another giveaway!

  • I could definitely use some fresh movement ideas for my piano preschool program and maybe it would give me some summer camp ideas as well! Thanks for the DVD recommendation!

  • Excited for more ideas for pre-schoolers. I currently have one student, but considering advertising for fall groups.

  • I first found John Feierabend’s resources when my son was a baby; they are just wonderful! I’ve been wanting to use his DVDs and other resources in piano and group lessons ever since you wrote about it here on Piano Pantry.

You can download mp3s of the songs in the Folk Song Picture Book Collection here: http://www.giamusic.com/music_education/johnfeierabend-main.cfm
Click on each book and scroll down. We love My Aunt Came Back in lessons–great for working on a steady beat, and also for cumulatively adding actions that get to be quite ridiculous in the end!

Congratulations on a year, Amy–always great content. You’ve led me to explore Music Learning Theory and so many other fantastic finds. Thank you!

  • I have heard of John Feierabend and his materials, but have never used them. I would love to try it.

  • Preschool children sure like to move and wiggle! I would love an opportunity to use this with my little students!

  • I used John Feierabend’s resources when I taught in public schools…don’t know why I never thought to use it in lessons. Thanks for the great idea!
